Party Affiliations on American Voting Ballots

Name: Kobra 2010-03-17 17:06

http://www.kobrascorner.com/fury/great-stupidity.php

The above is a link to a post on my website that sums up my views on this issue:

When Americans go to vote for local, state, and national politicians, the ballots display the party affiliations next to their names. This allows people to vote party line without even knowing who belongs to which political party, because that information is displayed right there for their convenience. I believe such practices enable willful ignorance and are a detriment to the democratic process.

Does /newpol/ agree or disagree with me?

I certainly agree. Why are there a such thing as political parties anyway? Washington was elected to the presidency without belonging to a party.

I can only speculate as to the reason people feel that political parties are needed. They seem really pointless to me.

To cooperate and coordinate efforts for mutual gain.

Gain for the politicians that are benefiting and supporting the disgusting institution known as corporate welfare, perhaps. Not really sticking their necks out for the average citizen, if they do at all.

Name: Anonymous 2010-03-18 17:28

>>5
Of course they gain, everyone gains. That's what mutual gain is.

Name: Anonymous 2010-03-18 18:42

>>6
Of course everyone gains, everyone that is, except the average citizen as I mentioned before.

Minorities don't mean shit, and the majority is fucked. That's how our legal/political system works.

Name: Anonymous 2010-03-19 2:55

>>8
Okay. You're telling me something that I already know.

The average citizen gains by being a middle class in a 1st world country, if you can't handle someone being richer than you just kill yourself.

Hurr you're so cool and edgy for being cynical. How about being realistic?

Name: Anonymous 2010-03-20 12:43

@17: Kikenvermin = Vermin kykes = parasitic filthy Jews

Name: Anonymous 2010-03-20 13:05

>>18
A jew did my tax the other day, that wasn't very parasitic of him.

Should I have a word? I believe minorities should live up to their stereotypes.

@19: I wasn't defending #17, I was explaining the etymology and, to a certain extent, translation? (Not sure if that's real German or not.)

Name: Anonymous 2010-03-20 22:35

Err, wasn't defending #15. You know what I meant.

I know what you mean, and in my first election I asked if I could take my ballot home to research all the names and was told that I couldn't. Therefore, just as you say, I vote Democrat on all names I don't know (usually attorney general and school board fags.) because it's either that or I'm helping the Republicans take that spot. I'm showing up to vote so I'm going to make for whatever negligible amount it's worth to keep cuntservatives out of power.

So you're absolutely right. While I can research the big ticket items, I use it as a crutch for the pissants. I suppose an ability to review the ballot before elections would help, but not completely eliminate this problem. Perhaps internet phones are already mitigating it. Then again, I doubt most people care enough.

Yes, Kodak!

Don't change these.
