So, I've been reading Hitler quotes...

I'm no racist and I don't understand what's his problem with Jews, Slavs and people who paint skies green and fields blue, but goddamn, that was an awesome man. They don't make politicians like that anymore. He wanted to create a new world, a new human race. All you can expect from contemporary politicians is that they want to raise or decrease taxes by 0.6%. Maybe it's just the times we live in. Stalin and Churchill were pretty cool too. Roosevelt otoh was pretty lame.

My fault eh?  and "I want to live free" is an "empty platitude"?
For the record, I provided a practical definition in my first post in this thread at  >>8 when I said "freedom; the ability to voluntarily participate, or to walk away."  Here's a dictionary definition: the condition of being free; the power to act or speak or think without externally imposed restraints.  Is this really how you feel?  There's nothing necessarily wrong with that, but the truth is that there are a great many externally imposed restraints bearing on you, and though they may be consistent with your interests and own personally imposed restraints, they bear nonetheless.  There are people who feel these restraints acutely.  Particularly now.

Nations grown corrupt
Love bondage more than liberty;
Bondage with ease than strenuous liberty.
~John Milton

And here we are.  Again.  The proliferation of humanity has been the result of two forces, the physical effort to secure and control resources, and the intellectual and spiritual drive for freedom.  In meeting these two needs existing societies expand and new societies are created.  Civilizations rise and fall feeding new civilizations.  On and on it goes, and at the bottom of it all there are people saying "Free my ass!  This ain't free!"
That's the kind of freedom [i]I'm]/i] talking about.  Survivalists don't "pay no tax", they avoid taxes.  Just like they avoid everything in the world, painfully aware of the fact that if they come up on the radar, the FBI's gonna burn 'em out.
Perhaps when you asked for a "practical definition of freedom you meant to ask, what is it exactly that I want to do, but cant.  Well, that's a little more complicated.  I'll say that it involves reminding people that they aren't free, and that we can do better.
