Pretty much,
we have an infinite desire for wealth and pleasure and as a result there are many who feel the need to whine incessantly because they are never fully satisfied and don't understand that complete satisfaction is physically impossible. They're like the little chihuahua on "the dog whisperer" that thinks it's the alpha male and won't stop yapping even when it's given everything the owner can think of. They need boundaries and limitations set by a superior enlightened class.

THE SKY IS FALLING
Yeah, I've heard that story too, the trouble is I didn't see Chicken Little as the hero.
I find it funny that a white middle class teenager in a 1st world country believes they can't "walk away" and that in the past most people could. You can do whatever the fuck you want, a single mother on minimum wage with 3 kids can't walk away, most in the 3rd world don't have the financial security to walk away without facing serious risk of starvation and disease, a black person 50 years ago wasn't allowed to do shit, political prisoners in China and Iran aren't even allowed to walk in daylight once a day, with a little time and work you could become a survivalist in Nebraska, or start a cult and move to Guatemala, there's no one stopping you and you have more material resources to do so than anyone else in the world. It's kind of arrogant to think that decadence will be end of us all and we are somehow victims because we are so wealthy.
A "huxleyan" d
ystopia won't occur anyway if not due to the fact that humanity is too diverse to be stratified in that way but due to peak oil, global warming and overpopulation, which incidentally won't kill us all, it will just make us poorer.
