1. Obama called McCain in the morning calling for a joint statement.
2. McCain calls back Obama and tells him, okay, BUT he further adds, 'maybe we should stop campaigning and get back to washington for a while' in an attempt for McCain to look like he's a "leader" too by suggesting something else.
3. Obama says, 'uhhh, why don't we do the joint statement first then see what happens or what can be done'
4. McCain completely ignores that and simply goes to the public and tells everyone he's suspending his campaign just to one-up his opponent for cheap political points.

>demonstrating real leadership and putting economic issues ahead of campaigning.
That's not real leadership, that's just sticking your nose where you're not wanted. Now EVERYTHING is going halt so long as McCain is back at the senate because McCain is simply adding his political bullshit to the whole ordeal. The democrats and republicans will definately not be able to pass a bill now because passing the bill will only allow McCain to hijack the credit for passing it, even if he had nothing to do with it.
Add to that, the fact the McCain doesn't know jack shit about anything. Everything he knows about the situation is being fed to him by party line Republicans and being threatened if he helps pass the bill whereas Obama is in constant contact will everyone involved.
