Hitler's economic policy was a form of socialism, Nazi means National Socialism, the Jew killing spree isn't something that can be classified under a political ideology of any sort, but as for managing his own country, he had very strong central government and a strong control of the economy, so he was a liberal.

The german wiki or wkitionary doesnt say (it just says its an abbreviation) while both english wiki and wiktionary says its NATI. So any sources of the former interpretation? And my point with sozi is that if its analogous then it should be NATI (since sozi is SOZIalist, the first two syllables).

I'm not German but I believe that while the "nati" in National is pronounce "nazi" simply "nati" (written) would be pronounced as "nati" (without ts sound). That could possibly expain the difference in writing. Any Germans care to comment?
