While they called themselvs national socialists, nazi is not an abbreviation of national socialist but just of national. In german national is pronounced nazional.

And if strong central government and strong control of the economy makes an economy socialist then the US was also socialist by this time (the new deal). Actually, there were few examples of deregulated free markets during this time, so i guess that means the whole world was socialist back then... international conspiracy indeed.
