Rights are for individuals, not groups. The only time it is ok for a government to violate the rights of individuals in a society is when it is absolutely necessary for the protection of the society and the preservation of overall freedom. An example of this is that it is necessary that we tax the populous a little to provide for the common defense of the nation.
