Prostitution should be legal.

Prostitution could be regulated, taxed, and controlled better if it was to be legalized. The government could gain a substantial amount of money from taxing prostitution, help cut down on rape/violence involving prostitutes, and reduce the number of hookers with STDs. Usually, a prostitute's mistress's word is law to them, meaning all sorts of things. If the government ran whore houses instead of lowlife dominatrixes, then prostitutes (and their customers) would be much better off. Some mistresses force their girls to fuck customers raw, increasing the risk of getting an STD or even becoming pregnant, which can negatively affect many more people. There's nothing that can be done about this since it is a shady and illegal business right now.

Prostitution may not be pathetic, but at least we can try to profit off of it. Right?

It's legal here, and I've yet to meet anyone who dreams of a professional career in prostitution. It's more that when they have no other options left (didn't finish school, come from a poor family if they have any left, possibly have a drug addiction to keep up with, and have no source of money whatsoever), they become prostitutes in order to stay alive, which is more of a problem than any of the things you mentioned.
