Prostitution should be legal.

Prostitution could be regulated, taxed, and controlled better if it was to be legalized. The government could gain a substantial amount of money from taxing prostitution, help cut down on rape/violence involving prostitutes, and reduce the number of hookers with STDs. Usually, a prostitute's mistress's word is law to them, meaning all sorts of things. If the government ran whore houses instead of lowlife dominatrixes, then prostitutes (and their customers) would be much better off. Some mistresses force their girls to fuck customers raw, increasing the risk of getting an STD or even becoming pregnant, which can negatively affect many more people. There's nothing that can be done about this since it is a shady and illegal business right now.

Prostitution may not be pathetic, but at least we can try to profit off of it. Right?

The trouble is, if every 18-35 year old women can just open her legs for a living, what incentive is there for them to work? Also with the number of prositutes now legally available the price paid per session will decrease with supply, meaning current prostitutes who are on drugs and probably don't have the character to settle down in a normal life will have to compete with 18 year old coeds who charge $50. What about professional classy prostitutes and dancers that are a fully accepted part of our culture that replaced prostitution in a clean acceptable manner? Legalised prostitution may cause problems.
