Freedom of Expression

Name: Anonymous 2006-11-18 22:58

"Laws alone cannot secure freedom of expression; in order that every man may present his views without penalty there must be a spirit of tolerance in the entire population.", Albert Einstein. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Why?

-What are the major legal and constitutional protections for freedom of expression in the United States?

-What is the relationship, if any, of freedom of expression to representative government?

"What is the relationship, if any, of freedom of expression to representative government?"
The government should not have the ability to revoke laws which permit freedom of expression. Central government, the police and military should remain seperated and must be heavily infiltrated by ordinary members of the population.

So we cripple the government, police and military in order to have mimes in the park? And just who do you believe makes up the government, police and the military but ordinary citizens? Or did you mean infilitration by a specific group or philosophical persuasion?

No, I meant exactly what was on the tin, ordinary citizens. You assumed I wanted to change something, but the reason why we are not a despotism is because the majority of the law makers, law enforcement and military consists of your old school friend, your colleague's son, the guy you watched the ball game with in the bar last night etc...

O and don't troll and assume I meant the government consists of just 3 people, you know what I mean.

Don't change these.
