Does islam spawn terror??

I realize there is a chance for extremism in any religion, but is it just my imagination or are most terrorists muslim? If there is such a discrepancy between terrorists who are from other religions and those of islam then isnt it obvious that there is something in that religion that is causing it to happen and its not just some bad people that are apart the religion but something that is within the religion and taught to the people (im asking cuz i dont know much bout islam)? I am asking this not to flame on muslims, i am looking for legitimate answers that are not just flaming. also if the number of terrorists who are muslim is not exponentially higher then id also like to know what the numbers are.

        Any religion can spawn murder, terror, and violence, and most have as well.  However if is often the case that these are the result of the warping of the religion in order to benifit the organization in power of it.  For insance when the Catholic church started the crusades, witchhunts, and inquisitions, this was a warping of the teaching of christ.  While the first testimate advocated violence in some forms it didn't always, and Christ advocated violence never.  Islam however is the only modern widespread religon(these being Catholisism/christianity/anything involving christ at all, Jewdism, Hinduism, Islam, and Budism)  Hinduism I am far from an expert on so I will leave that up to others to say whether or not it adovates violence, but I don't recal it doing so to any great degree.  Budism absolutely advocates peace in almost every form (various warrior classes were actually considered cursed by them.  For insance the Samuri was a killer, directly against the teaching of Buda.  Their punisment was to be reincarnated in the next life as a Samuai yet again in a never ending cycle. And the WWII samurai Mentality propaganda was a complete warp of this code anyways).  Jewdiasm has a mix of violence and not putting up with shit, but I don't belive it often advocated aboslute force except for in defence of you and your's("thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" is actually a mistranslation of the origional text reading "thou shalt not suffer a prisioner to live" stemming from the fact that prisioners, and POWs especially were not treated well at this time, and the truly faithful would not continue his suffering but send him to god for his fate to be decided.  Islam is outright the most violent, With the Koran outright advocating extreem violence against the unbeliever and the Infidel.  The old testimant prettly much says and implies that God will take care of them himself.  the Koran says to kill them all.  Jesus actually on several instances said that the unbeliever who finds true faith will still get to heaven.  Budism doesn't give a damn what your religion is not having a God in it at all.  Now this doesnn't coenside with how many muslims believe, in much the same way not everyone who had faith in christ believed in the peace he preached.  However that doesn't stop the book from saying what it does.  True I haven't read all of the Koran, just a few pages here and there, but I haven't read all of either testimate either, or any religios manual of budism(not sure there is one) I don't bash any religion being agnostic myself, and am not trying to be impartial here.  All religions have potential for great tragedies, massacares, and terror to be inspired by them, Islam tends to exceed the potential of others.

Religion doesn't cause murder, it simply doesn't stop it. If there was a solution that prevented all crime that would be great, but religion clearly isn't it.

As you can see my argument is simply the logical truth and not part of the religion vs anti-religion game.

   Religion is a motivating force of murder and other violence, so are coutless other things.  Stop trying to blame the religion and just blame (a)the murderer (b)the psychopath leading the religious group.  Religion is used just as much to bind a group of people together as it is to tear them apart.  Religion has caused murder and violence thoughout history, and it probably will in the future.  stop trying to pretend that without religion we would never kill eachother though.  We are a violent group of animals, and as there are more and more of us on the planet, murders and other violence will only become more common.

what about them?...When was the last time they did anything big?  I guess you could say the holocaust was somewhat christian motivated, but Hitler was acually an athiest by the time he got really into it.  So when was the last time christians started a holy war against another race?  and more important how many of them that did are alive to punish today?  Most of the serios crimes they did were over generations ago.  and if they happen again those people should be taken care of as well.  I am not saying kill all muslims, just the ones that order people to fly planes into buildings, and anyone protecting them and offering them safe harbor.  I am not defending what Christian extreemists have done in the past, but that was individuals in the past, and those people are well out of our range of punishment.  Those extreemists in the Middle east are well within shooting distance.

Well I believe that part of Islam's violence is due to the media coverage of the more exciting events that happen in the region, namely the terrorism. Since that's what most of the world sees, that's what we believe is happening in the area.

Also, some of the leaders, religious or not, are taking advantage of a socioeconomically displaced class of people and giving them something to do. It's easy to blame your poverty and loss of political power on those who have wealth and influence (America). I honestly don't have a clue about Islam other than what the media tells me but what I do know is that Islam doesn't promote terrorism (which is not to be confused with violence).

Sure, islam is sort of like the medieval catholic church or crazy sects and occasionally people misinterpret or intentionally misinterpret the bible in order to commit crime. However their interpretations were seriously warped and the bible does not contain any declarations to burn people alive or spread christianity through the sword, the new testament is absent of glorification of violence and the only act of violence in the old testament were acts of god or david killing goliath. Consider 2 nations. One of them is institutionally non-racist and another is institutionally racist. Both nations will have racists, you can't completely eliminate racism, but it will be a lot less likely for a person to discriminate against someone in the institutionally non-racist nation. Thinking there is no difference between these 2 nations is like thinking there is no difference between islam and other religions.

According the Islam satan is and exist in all those who, by their freewill, have opted to live a life of evil and transgression. Since the justification to rape and pillage in the koran is intrinsically evil, Islam IS a religion which worships satan and the propogation of evil through mistaken rightseousness. It's written in the koran, so I am in fact being tolerant and understanding of islam and islamic culture by revealing this.
