1 china? discuss taiwan

Name: y 2006-02-27 3:16

i was born and raised in taiwan. gave up my citizenship and proud of it.

i've no problems with taiwanese people wishing for a true independence and global recognisation, however, i am unimpressed with the use of such political agenda as a mere campaigne for popularity and propaganda.

president chen is NOT a leader but a blindly elected figurehead whom allows his wife to launder money - yes - it goes on unpunished. once prosperous, the country is left with nothing but uneducated individuals who view impendence as the holy grail. has anyone actually sat down and analysed what would happen after independence? nothing, the country is still economically weak with the president showing no sign of growth for the future.

taiwan does not embrace other cultures and its media is covered with news of killing, robbery and other wonderful daily criminal activities. it seems fear and self-absorbed media is the way to go and taiwanese people thrive on anything negative.

i've little respect for american-taiwanese whom "fights" for independence. if you love it so much, go back to taiwan then. be a true taiwanese and go support your leader. go on then, instead of enforcing your exclusive culture and refusing to assimilate, piss off back to taiwan.

is taiwan a first world country? no. stop pretending to be like Japan. global recognition does not come with the membership of WHO or WTO but with a strong social, economic and environmental policies that governs the nation with equality. donating tax payers money to Haiti simply because they formally recognised taiwan as a country is a sure winner. if they recognise us and believe taiwan is its own sovernty, why  didn't taiwan send troups to Haiti during their civil unrest? isn't helping fellow allies someting mature, global governments do? no matter, im' sure the pacific nation of Tuvalu will mount another plea for the inclusion of taiwan into the UN.

taiwan is not Japan or Korea with its strong human resources and economic strength. taiwan has nuclear wastes sitting in rusty barrels not far off the taiwan strait. taiwan is racists and divisive even among so called "taiwanese" themselves. oh wait, i dun speak Hokkien so i was not a real taiwanese to begin with.

taiwan ftw.

I like the food.

So, what are you implying? That Taiwan should reunite with the People's Republic? Well, now that they're all in the happy capitalist family it wouldn't really matter anymore but that's still not going to happen. First of all, the political elite of Taiwan will prevent it with all they have. Also, historical hostility doesn't vanish from one day to another.

So, since that is impossible, the Taiwanese have one choice left, and that is to cling to the US, which they have done all the time, and well, of course the Americans won't say no to a military base right before the Chinese coast...

In short: Taiwan is a "country" made of fail.

Anyway, Taiwan is part of China, always was, always will be. 5 maybe right, but most of those Nationalist were corrupt bastards. Not that the Neo-Commies are any less corrupt. The US should've cleaned both their clocks like they did with Japan, China might've modernized faster. What force on earth could run those rats out now?

China and taiwan Stinks.I been to both.I was going to buy a roasted duck in china cause it seemed like the most edible thing at the time but the fucking guy that was serving it wore a disgusting apron and looked really sickly. He also simply wiped his raw pig cutting hands on his apron before taking the duck I wanted off the hook.I said no thanks and got the fuck outta there. These people don't care about cleanliness of hygene in general and would get you dead or violently ill if your no carefull.Guess thats why bird flu and other bad stuff starts there.

I don't know about Taiwan, but my experience with mainland Chinese (this excludes Hong Kong) reflects >>17. I'm surprised they weren't completely wiped out by some epidemic long ago.

Name: Anonymous 2006-03-08 8:40

if you give up taiwanese citizenship.. then you better give up all your other citizenships too..

live with it dude.. everywhere is the same.. dirty politics.. fucked up people.. THEY'RE EVERYWHERE OK!?

i'm taiwanese btw.. but that being taiwanese doesn't mean like "OMG OMG i'M TAIWANESE THATS SOOO GREAT"

Name: Anonymous 2006-03-08 8:49

>>22
continuing one.. coz same person writing

then what citizenship have you taken up now?? aye?? america??

Name: Anonymous 2006-03-08 21:45

>>22 & >>23
not american~

you're absolutely right in saying that politics everywhere are questionable, however, this isn't a post about how great a new citizenship is but merely pointing out the stupidity and lack of knowledge that consisitute the general taiwanese population of today.

why should anyone be a taiwanese citizen when he/she no longer believes it? the country is backward, racists and the media does nothing but air more stupid game shows that really does nothing for the general public. why does china migrants (through marriage of course, cos there's just no other way) receive a 2nd rate treatment? why, through the bond of marriage, the taiwanese government refuses to recognise them as a taiwanese citizen?

this is the sort of dumb shit the taiwanese people believe and still uphold in their little shithole of a town, sheltered away by their president's elaborate campaigne of dazzling them with "anti-blue" & "patriotic" conspiracies.

if you truely want independence, then as a country, the people need to grow up.

Name: Anonymous 2006-03-09 3:32

>>24
you forget that not all taiwanese is like that.. many are aware of the shit going on..

but you know why it's still like that??

its because people are too dam lazy to do anything about it.. people think it doesn't really effect them and thats why they sit contently and carry on with what they're doing.. and this is not just in taiwan.. same in australia and probably U.S too (btw i live in australia rite now)

another important point is.. young taiwanese people mostly don't give a fuck about politics.. they have other things to think about..

its not about growing up.. its about changing your prespective

taiwan is still taiwan.. whether they be fucked up cunts running the country.. it is still that smallshithole block of land that you were born..

either way i don't care.. i gonna go live in japan loler
