1 china? discuss taiwan

i was born and raised in taiwan. gave up my citizenship and proud of it.

i've no problems with taiwanese people wishing for a true independence and global recognisation, however, i am unimpressed with the use of such political agenda as a mere campaigne for popularity and propaganda.

president chen is NOT a leader but a blindly elected figurehead whom allows his wife to launder money - yes - it goes on unpunished. once prosperous, the country is left with nothing but uneducated individuals who view impendence as the holy grail. has anyone actually sat down and analysed what would happen after independence? nothing, the country is still economically weak with the president showing no sign of growth for the future.

taiwan does not embrace other cultures and its media is covered with news of killing, robbery and other wonderful daily criminal activities. it seems fear and self-absorbed media is the way to go and taiwanese people thrive on anything negative.

i've little respect for american-taiwanese whom "fights" for independence. if you love it so much, go back to taiwan then. be a true taiwanese and go support your leader. go on then, instead of enforcing your exclusive culture and refusing to assimilate, piss off back to taiwan.

is taiwan a first world country? no. stop pretending to be like Japan. global recognition does not come with the membership of WHO or WTO but with a strong social, economic and environmental policies that governs the nation with equality. donating tax payers money to Haiti simply because they formally recognised taiwan as a country is a sure winner. if they recognise us and believe taiwan is its own sovernty, why  didn't taiwan send troups to Haiti during their civil unrest? isn't helping fellow allies someting mature, global governments do? no matter, im' sure the pacific nation of Tuvalu will mount another plea for the inclusion of taiwan into the UN.

taiwan is not Japan or Korea with its strong human resources and economic strength. taiwan has nuclear wastes sitting in rusty barrels not far off the taiwan strait. taiwan is racists and divisive even among so called "taiwanese" themselves. oh wait, i dun speak Hokkien so i was not a real taiwanese to begin with.

taiwan ftw.
