Why aren't smart people elected?

Instead of relying on charisma, why not have Presidents based on intelligence and knowledge?  Someone who has a masters or professional degrees, has written papers and books, and is just a really knowledgeable guy?  Rather than, um, someone who's not.

presidents are now elected based on whether they've got skeletons in their closet.  anyone deviating from milquetoast cannot be elected.  Thanks to the press and hyper partisan politics our country (the US) is now a pile of shit.

All of our smartest presidents have been failures. Nixon is considered the most intelligent (in terms of raw brain power) president in history and Theodore Roosevelt was a PH.D and president of Princeton University. Both presidencies ended in complete failure.

Believe it or not--its the qualities we all love to hate that make a great leader. Looks, personality and general charism are traits that have the ability to unite people. Forsight and leadership traits can never be taught and very few are born with them. A leader must have a brain--but beyond a certain point it has very diminishing returns.

Imagin Ed Witten sitting down with China or Isreal and trying to press and agenda--good lord we would be pushed around like a 3rd world nation. Just like in buisness--the most intelligent people in washington will usually take advisory roles--i would bet all my belongings in a simple wager: That The Rock with Aristotle as a political advisor would prove to be a far more successful administration that if the roles were reversed.

People who are both smart and have what it takes to be a good politician also wouldn't go anywhere near the office, they're smart enough to not want the job.

Really, everyone criticizes you no matter what, and god help you if you actually fuck up.

So the other day:

I saw a obese tan woman at the store talking in Ebonics on her Iphone about

how she would get more money if she had more kids. Then I looked in her

cart, and it was piled high with organically fed T-Bone Steak, Deli Lobsters,

40oz malt liquor bottles,80 lbs of cubed watermelon and 10 cigarette cartons,

which of course was all paid for by food stamps. Meanwhile, I'm stuck on

Kool-aid and Ramen noodles because I choose to work and provide for myself

I'm disappointed that all those Negroes and Hispanics vote liberal so they can

I'll be happy to broker a deal. Manufacturing social constructs like race and

Don't commit any crimes, don't cheat on her, never use violence except in self defense in extreme situations, don't be a douche, treat you wife like a queen, raise your kids, introduce them to sports early, persist in reviewing their education until they are 18 and encourage them to socialize, help your wife accomplish her life dreams if she wants (probably just become a school teacher or something, just don't be a chauvinist).

Don't feel bad about bad things then try to delude yourself by thinking about good things to cheer yourself up. Separate your emotions from your logical thought processes, when you are calm and unemotional use cold hard logic to decide what is best, when you are emotional think about the specific emotions you are feeling and where they are coming from, think about how pointless they are. Try to reinforce positive emotions but never allow emotions, positive or negative, to affect your logic when making important decisions.

Because democracy is not about who’s the greatest and wisest, it’s about who’s the most popular and is the best at bullshitting people, and since people are educated by public schools funded by gubamint, for the most part, they think it’s really great and that it’s a duty to vote and encourage their shitty system, the fact that public school is inefficient helps: they can’t question elections, or candidates, they just go and vote like the retards they are.

not voting makes you more stupid than those that do. there will never be a party that exactly matches all your views, therefore some sacrifice will always be made. in the current system minority views will never be represented. so you vote for who you hate least.
