I have a computer program, Anvil Studio, which comes with built-in instrument sounds. Among those sounds are leads and pads. I figure the leads would be best to use to quickly create an 8-bit sound, but which lead would be best? (square, sawtooth, calliope, chiff, charang, voice, fifths, or bass+lead)
Also, would 8-bit drums be an electric snare/electric bass drum, or what?
they do 8bit stuff better than you could dream of doing and have a forum full of threads about this kind of stuff.

I downloaded the demo to try. It's pretty neat. My only question is what is the difference between the full version and the demo?

ability to save/export stuff.
you can find tons of free programs that just record whatever is playing out of your speakers, and you can record your stuff that way, for an easy way to get around it not allowing you to save(that is if you don't know how to download a cracked version, which of course would be less of a hastle lol)
Before you can make chip music, you must understand the sounds.
If you cannot tell the difference between the different waveforms just by hearing them, if you do not yet know what sorts of sounds each waveform can create, if you do not know how to create layer upon layer of sound with only three channels to work with, you can never hope to make chip music.
