earthquake hits Haiti a year or so ago

The largest city was almost completely demolished by the quake, causing 5 dollars worth of damage.
The country's vital potato crop suffered 50% losses, bringing this fall's yield down to half a potato.
Aid workers estimate that it will take hours to rebuild the disheveled shacks, as Haitians pick up the pieces of plywood and corrugated metal sheets and lean them against each other as they were before the tremors hit.

I live in Christchurch; an earthquake hit my town last month, totally destroying it. It was even worse than Haiti because we've forgotten how to balance or plywood and corrugated iron. Plus we have no potatoes; we only we farm tourists out here.
