high school graduates can't fix pipes

Name: Anonymous 2010-12-11 1:03

A new survey finds that today's graduates have dismal plumbing skills.  We aren't even talking about boiler installation, but something as simple as soldering a pair of copper pipes together.  Not even half could properly choose the appropriate J-pipe to put into a single T opening.

What does any of this have to do with shii fucking 13 year olds?

Why don't we start teaching the faggot kids of today things they can actually use to fix and manufacture things instead of being dependent on others.

Why learn how to fix pipes when you can just pay a messican $5 to do it for you. Only losers and brown people do manual labor.

Plumbing skills are specific skills, not general education skills. That's why the plumbing business is profitable and considered a profession.

High school is beyond general eduction.  Elementary school is for reading, writing, and arithmetic, plus many specifics already in the sciences and arts.  Plumbing skills are important in these modern days of municipal water systems to every home and sewage.  And technically, professions are reserved to those titled certificates where an independent professional body, such as a law or medical association, grants you the priviledge.  Plumbing is known as a trade.

A trade, ie., a skill that is not required to be considered a well-rounded person. Since forever, guys have always thought they could fix the plumbing, but they can't. That's why they always need to call in the expert. Having dismal plumbing skills is not new.

Do you drive a car? Are you a mechanic because you know how to change the oil? NOPE.

Also, home plumbing is nowhere near the same as municipal water systems to even be put in the same sentence.

"not required to be considered" Well there's where we are failing today's high schoolers.  If you can't fit a god damn pipe at 17, then that's just sad.  Apparently people like you have such low expectations.  As for home plumbing, do you think that that each house has a well?  Modern home plumbing is possible because of municipal water systems.

No one's asking you to go fix the sewer systems running underneath your home. Now, if you wanted to fix the tubing under your sink, that's a whole different story.

I don't understand why you are unable to distinguish between the two. In fact, you willfully ignore the difference because you want to associate home plumbing with the importance of municipal water systems to civilization. Give me a break.

You are getting weirdly picayune about components of modern civilized plumbing systems.  A proper plumbing education would have helped I'd say.

How is that "independent" where you pay people to do everything for you instead of doing it yourself?

Don't change these.
