Praying to God

Name: Anonymous 2010-05-11 12:00

Seems there are two types of payers; asking for change and giving thanks, but what is the logic? If you are praying to an omnipotent creator who has willed a "plan" and you are asking him for something to change, like, "Please, God, help little Billy be cured of cancer", who are you to ask him to change his plan for Billy to die a painful cancerous death? Essentially you are saying, "Fuck you God, I dont like your shitty plan, I know better than you." And why the need to give thanks to an omnipotent being? Do you require your pets to give you thanks? Do you require your little Civilization AIs to give you thanks? Or is it enough for them to just exist and live happily?

Religious people don't use logic. They just believe whatever is told to them and never think for themselves.

Firstly, if you are trying to assess something logically, you must first physically experiment with it to fully understand. Otherwise, your logic is based upon hearsay not personally observed facts. That is not logic, that is skepticism. Do not confuse the two or you will become confused...oh, wait, you already are.

"Some religious people don't use logic," would be accurate. However, not all religious people go to church either, nor do all religious people practice the rituals and recognize the ceremonies of their religion as cannon either; what's your point?

Also, to ASSERT that "Religious people...'just' believe whatever is told to them and 'never' think for themselves," is taking your hearsay experience and your limited bias knowledge and applying the law of consistency to it saying, "This is the way it is always and forever." That is self-deception.

If you are going to argue using words, please make sure you are familiar with the terminology that corresponds otherwise your statement will merely be non sequitur (it does not follow logically) and you will be seen as deluded.

To assert, "there is no logic in prayer," is assumptive rationality. What is your evidence to the contrary? How long have you examined prayer personally to come to such a conclusion that prayer is not logical?

:/

...you want to play, but you ignore the simple things and wonder why you appear and feel awkward...
srsly, guise, srsly.
