carnival: the festival of meat

Name: Anonymous 2008-03-17 2:20

As Easter approaches, we have a meat blowout before going into suspended animation during Lent.  Clothing is worn of jerky, hot dogs are dipped into gin, and puppets are fashioned for the children.

WTF is Lent?

Name: Anonymous 2008-03-17 2:40

Lent is the period of deprivation preceding the arrival of spring.  The word itself derives from Middle English, meaning spring.

I've never heard of it before. Is it an American type thing?

Name: Anonymous 2008-03-17 3:01

It is older than the establishment of today's nation states.

Name: Anonymous 2008-03-17 3:23

According to Wikipedia it's some sort of religious thing.

I no longer care.

Happily, we may rob the traditions of the religious without remorse, for the religious robbed older traditions from the people that they (often forcibly) converted.  So enjoy the festival of meat, the period of deprivation, and the time of spring as we have done all these thousands of years, regardless.

As Easter approaches, we have a penis blowout before going into suspended animation during Lent.  Penise is worn of jerky, hot dogs are dipped into vaginas, and buttocks are fashioned for the children.

That religious claptrap is just stupid.  FAIL.  FAIL for associating meat with stupid fucking superhero stories.

Name: Anonymous 2008-03-17 14:17

What, which superhero wore a jerky suit?  Was it Green Lantern

No, religious stories are obviously the base farces from which superhero stories obviously sprung.

Oh I see.  No worry, the festival of meat predates modern religions.  Members of those religions have integrated what was already there, but no one religion owns the festival of meat.  The festival of meat is for the people.

Don't change these.
