So I started talking to a friend earlier today. He had just returned home from school, so I asked him how his day went. Basically the answer was, "good, overall." Then the next thing I know, he's asking me why I don't believe in God. I'd had a pretty shitty day, personally, so I wasn't really in the mood to get into it with him. I ended up answering his question anyway, that way he wouldn't think I was evading it, and he proceeded to bitch at me for not believing. I replied, "just so you know, I've had a really shitty day, and this is not helping. It's nice to know that you'd rather bitch at me for not believing in your god than ask me how the fuck my day went. It really is."
I have a feeling I was being too nice in my reply. Was I?

If he wants to start cramming his religion down your throat, you were being way too nice, but he is a friend, so that leaves the response up to your own discretion. Personally I would have chewed his ass out for trying to make me feel like less of a person for not following his religion. You should have followed up afterwards with a detailed description of your day and how shitty it was, just to lay a guilt trip on him, and then accentuate it with saying something like "and THEN I wanted to talk to you, because, shit, you're my friend and you're fun to talk to, blah blah blah... but now you're bitching about this blah blah blah." you know, lay it on thick to make him feel like a dick. Then if he tries to counter with "god will help you through it" or some other horseshit, you have the right to beat his ass next time you see him

Imagine that somewhere someone just had a near death experience. Think about the size of the universe or the relative size of yourself to an atom.
