So, I had a first date last night with a very nice girl, really hit it off, share a lot of interests, blah blah blah. We've already agreed to catch up for a second date, so things must have gone pretty OK. BUT! I walk her back to her apartment, we stand outside talking for a few minutes as she finds her keys, I give her a hug, all is good.
The question is, was that the perfect time for a first kiss, and if it was, how far have I climbed up the lame scale? I mean, do people (OK, girls) expect a kiss on the first date? And if they do, what do they think if they don't get one?

That depends on how low your standards are. If you would accept some dumb bitch who for some God forsaken reason believes that it is bad to kiss on the first date.... then FINE!! Bow down to her will, accept her reality, and let yourself believe that kissing is bad on the first date.
My reality is that if we do not make out on the first date, something is wrong with HER. I probably would not persue her because if she doesn't like kissing on the first date, there are probably going to be a zillion other lame, conservative things about her that I will not accept.

At this point, I'd be so happy jsut to have any girl be even a little interested in me that I wouldn't care. If some girl likes me, but, for whatever reason, doesn't want to lay a finger on me, that'd be eprfectly fine. But then again, you may not be as big a loser as I am.
