A question

Name: hablo español 2012-05-15 22:08

non native english speaker here, this question came in an english test:

A: Is it quiet here in the daytime?
B: Yes, but there is even ___________ noise at night.

a) less
b) too much

I choose(a), but my english teacher says is alternative (b).
That doesn't sound rigth for me, am I wrong?
Thanks for your help.

you are right.  the idea is that daytime is quiet and night is quieter.  "too much" doesn't make sense in this situation, and even if that were the correct answer, it would be grammatically incorrect in that sentence.

I can't think of any situation at all where (b) would be possible. Just "There is even too much noise at night" would be OK in a situation where we are listing problems about a location or something, but I don't see how you could merge that with "Yes, but".

In any case, >>2 has it right, and (b) makes no sense.
