So they expect u to speak Spanish (rant)

Name: Anonymous 2009-09-17 4:34

I find it ridiculous that a Spanish person in the US expects me to understand them in Spanish without even asking me first if I spoke the language or at least attempting to speak English at first.  Now, if I lived in Mexico, Latin America, or Spain, I don't see the problem since it's the official language.

It's one thing if you can't speak English at all (or whatever language is official or most commonly used in the country) but it's very arrogant to expect people to understand your language without question.  Usually, I'll reply to these folks in Chinese (my native language)..  hey, if they expect me to know Spanish, I'm expecting them to understand Chinese.

Nice troll, even then. I find that pretty funny, replying to them in chinese.

I personally wouldnt have a problem if someone came up to me and started speaking in a foreign language. If they use the name or place theyre trying to get to. I would try to show them which way they needed to go & be on my way. Otherwise I would just reply back to them in the languages I know or just lift my shoulders up & put my open palms out.

What I dont get is fuckers expecting me to learn spanish because of some BS reason that they see as valid. I speak 3 languages & used english to communicate with the finnish family that came to my town. Im here in NY now(naturalized) & I dont feel that I or anyone need to learn any language other than english. Fucking immigrants should learn english, you can bitch and moan how people dont treat/like you but dont bitch that we should learn your language because america isnt the only country that is in the world market.

Tell that to all the fat AmeriKKKans who visit Pakistan, Ethiopia, and Sweden while talking loud on their cellphones and eating a Big Mac in the other hand who expect everyone to speak and provide services in English and for whatever damn reason they do. Why? Because those countries want his money? Some things are more important.

I find it ridiculous that a AMERIKAN person in the ALLWORLD AND COUNTRIES expects me to understand them in ENGLISH without even asking me first if I spoke the language or at least attempting to speak KLINGON at first.  Now, if I lived in AMERIKA, EARTH, or AUSTRALIA, I don't see the problem since it's the official language.

It's one thing if you can't speak KLINGON at all (or whatever language is official or most commonly used in the country) but it's very arrogant to expect people to understand your language without question.  Usually, I'll reply to these folks in ARAMEIAN (my native language)..  hey, if they expect me to know ENGLISH, I'm expecting them to understand ARAMEIAN.

Yes, OP, I agree that the expectation that we all speak Spanish is blatant arrogance. If there's some foreigner who's lost their way and is making an attempt to communicate logically, that's totally different from someone who gets angry at me for not speaking fluent Spanish. If I was in Mexico or Spain I could understand and accept being expected to learn Spanish, but I am in America! I respond politely to such arrogance by simply responding: 「スペイン語が分かりません」 to which they are either really dumbfounded and walk away or get even more pissed, which is when I just flip them off and say 'f--k you beaner.'

The USA is the most diverse country in the world & in the history of the world, if anyone is expected to be able to deal with someone who doesn't speak your particular language then I would hope it's an American.

I got an <a href="http://www.maternityweddingdressesshop.com" title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">maternity wedding dresses</a> engagement ring for Christmas. My <a href="http://www.maternityweddingdressesshop.com" title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">maternity wedding dresses</a> boyfriend and I had been dating for almost a year and both felt the time was <a href="http://www.maternityweddingdressesshop.com" title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">maternity wedding dresses</a>right to join our lives together in holy matrimony. htmlThe month of January was spent planning our <a href="http://www.wholesale-promgowns.com " title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">wholesale prom gowns</a> perfect Alabama June wedding. My mother, two sisters and I went to Huntsville, the closest <a href="http://www.maternityweddingdressesshop.com" title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">maternity wedding dresses</a> town with a selection of bridal shops, to buy the gown that would play the leading role on my special occasion. We <a href="http://www.wholesale-promgowns.com " title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">wholesale prom gowns</a> had a wonderful time just being together and sharing silly jokes, but the <a href="http://www.wholesale-promgowns.com " title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">wholesale prom gowns</a> day soon turned serious by afternoon: still no sign of the dress of my dreams. Both sisters were ready to give <a href="http://www.wholesale-promgowns.com " title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">wholesale prom gowns</a> up and try another day in another town, but I coerced them into one more boutique.I had a good feeling as we entered the quaint little <a href="http://www.maternityweddingdressesshop.com" title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">maternity wedding dresses</a> shop filled with the scent of fresh flowers. The elderly clerk showed us several <a href="http://www.wholesale-promgowns.com " title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">wholesale prom gowns</a> beautiful gowns in my size <a href="http://www.wholesale-promgowns.com " title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">wholesale prom gowns</a> and price range, but none were right. As I opened the door to leave, the desperate shop owner announced she had one more dress in the back that was expensive and <a href="http://www.maternityweddingdressesshop.com" title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">maternity wedding dresses</a> not even my size, but perhaps I <a href="http://www.wholesale-promgowns.com " title="wholesale Wedding Dresses">wholesale prom gowns</a> might want to look at it anyway. When she brought it out, I squealed in delight.

Don't change these.
