(također, znam ja ne govorim hrvatski tako dobro. Ja sam samo pola hrvat)

No. Slav comes from "slovo" which means "word" (or "letter"/"character" in some South Slavic languages). It used to be a description for people who spoke the same language when the Germanic and Slavonic/Slavic people shared a border. The word "Nijemci" came into existence at the same time, meaning "deaf" or "mute".

Germans = Nijemci = deaf/mute (not meant as an insult, simply referring to people who speak a different language, and Germans bordered Slavs for quite a long time, and still do).
