I find it really interesting what the 漢子 is when transliterated into separate languages/dialects

Mandarin 學(学)=xue
Cantonese 學=hok
Korean 學=학=hak.
and so on.

I'm (part) Korean and i think it's essential to know the 한자 of the word as well as the 한글 as 한자 is very beautiful :)

can anyone else agree with this?

Finally, something we can all agree on! Somewhat unrelated, but Koreanon, how do you write your the day-to-day name of your nation (as in the ROK) in 한자? In Chinese it's 韩国/Hanguo (sorry, I don't know the 繁体字 for it).

How is 志 read in Chinese?

I ask because it is FIVE mora (kokorozashi) in Japanese. Pretty common word as well.

Not very common in Chinese -at least in my limited experience. Pronounced zhi (4).

If you want to know it's meaning, I've always seen it meant as "the will" or "determination", "aspiration". I've seen it occasionally as a name - "first" name, not surname. But apparently, according to my dictionary, it can also be used for 誌, a traditional character meaning "to sign".

But yeah, if you just want the pronunciation, it's Zhi. Quite different from "kokorozashi"! Does mora mean syllable?

"Kokorozashi" is a native Japanese word not taken from Chinese. The Chinese-based reading is just "shi" (which doesn't make sense for an average Japanese speaker, since there are thousands of other kanji read as "shi").
