hi, amerifags. i have some questions, would you like to answer me?
1) what is very official written greeting in english? if i write an official letter, will 'hello' be official enough? i pretty doubt it but 'how do you do', 'good day/afternoon/evening' etc look like greetings for meeting, not for letter, am i right?
2) what is right pronunciation of word 'fap'? it's a pity, but i cannot find this word in my dictionary (though 'fag' is there). is it pronounced 'faep' (damn! sorry, i cannot type phonetic simbols, i hope you can understand me) or 'fap'?
3) why did you name joystick 'joystick'? 'joy stick', it sounds like name of shlicking device. hm, i guess someone use it that way though...
yes, i understand, it's a queer bunch of questions, but l ain't a troll, i am really interested.

1. 'Hello' is used for any situation. Yes, use it.
2. Fap originates from the Japanese sound for masturbation. It's pronounced 'fap' as in 'tap'
3. Joystick was named appropriately because it resembles a dildo.
3. Joystick because it's a stick you use to have 'joy' while playing games. Named before things like that became lulzy.

1) "Dear Sir/Madam" is another fun way to start formal letters with.

thnx 4all
huh, 'dear sir' sounds a little embarrassing for me, i'll explore the link above for other variants
also, i reread my first post and understood that no one could figure out 'ae' was a try to write phonetic sign for sound as in 'fag' or 'tap'. though it's not a matter now

"ur" should be "you're" or "you are" and since "language" starts with a consonant "a" is used as apposed to "an"
"a language" >>7 "Dear sir," does sound completely normal for an English person >>9 Is correct

hi all again
i have one else question. i often see some people mix up 'you're' and 'your' here, on 4chan. i dunno if they don't do it deliberately though. i cannot understand how anybody can confuse them in writing. why do they do it? is it a mistake of those who learnt the language by conversations, not textbooks?

Or, if you have trouble with /æ/ you can approximate it with /ɛ/ as many Europeans do. But if you DO know how to pronounce /æ/ then, by all means, do it.

It's easier to type "your" than it is to type "you're" although the pronunciation is essentially the same, /jɒɹ/, same with "yore". As far as if it's intentional. I think sometimes it is. When people are using and old meme or trying to sound like a derp they'll use "your" for "you're"
