a few questions about english

Name: Anonymous 2008-11-03 22:12

hi, amerifags. i have some questions, would you like to answer me?

1) what is very official written greeting in english? if i write an official letter, will 'hello' be official enough? i pretty doubt it but 'how do you do', 'good day/afternoon/evening' etc look like greetings for meeting, not for letter, am i right?

2) what is right pronunciation of word 'fap'? it's a pity, but i cannot find this word in my dictionary (though 'fag' is there). is it pronounced 'faep' (damn! sorry, i cannot type phonetic simbols, i hope you can understand me) or 'fap'?

3) why did you name joystick 'joystick'? 'joy stick', it sounds like name of shlicking device. hm, i guess someone use it that way though...

yes, i understand, it's a queer bunch of questions, but l ain't a troll, i am really interested.

Or, if you have trouble with /æ/ you can approximate it with /ɛ/ as many Europeans do. But if you DO know how to pronounce /æ/ then, by all means, do it.

It's easier to type "your" than it is to type "you're" although the pronunciation is essentially the same, /jɒɹ/, same with "yore". As far as if it's intentional. I think sometimes it is. When people are using and old meme or trying to sound like a derp they'll use "your" for "you're"

|your an amerifag right?

etc.
