You said "basically a dialect of French" which is fucking wrong. 28% of English vocabulary comes from French, but 28% also comes from Latin, and 25% comes from Germanic. So why isn't English a dialect of Latin or German?

And it is classified as a Germanic language. You can throw as much history as you want at it, it's still etymologically a fucking Germanic language.
