/g/ has been hit really bad this summer. It's getting to the point where 80% of threads are off topic trolling, basic tech support (easily solved by google) and questions that get answered 1000 times per day.
We had a mod a few weeks ago who starting banning loads of people for no reason and this week someone made a sticky for tech support, but other than that moderation has been almost non-existent.
Even yesterday there was a EU vs US thread that reached bump limit despite people reporting it from the start.
I'm not one to support mods as they usually ruin fun, but in /g/s case we need help badly.

At least /g/ has some form of moderator support. /v/ seems to have absolutely no moderator support and it really is the biggest board besides /b/ (where there is no moderation due to its nature.). Which is rather unfortunate, but I've learned to stay away from /v/ and if I do go on there I will ignore any of the trolling threads and just refresh until I find a video game thread.
Sorry to hear about /g/, I guess 4chan has a small amount of moderators that actually do something.
This has been a problem for years. It seems like boards go through long periods of shit, then they get cleaned up for a week or so, then are okay for a little while, then go back to being shit. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Obviously, there needs to be more moderators, and more moderators outside the US (for better 24 hour coverage) would be nice.

Would there be any interest in creating a /g/ on another chan, with more moderation? Obviously it would be quite a bit slower, and there would have to be a method of advertising it.

I used to try to fight it with lolicon hijacks, but it no longer works. The signal to noise ratio is too fucked up.
