If I get it right someone posted personal info about one office manager (his real name, family members names and his home address). He decided to sue Hiroyuki Nishimura (the owner and admin of 2ch) in order to recieve information about poster. Otherwise, he's asking to arrest all Nishimura's property (wich includes Nishimura's bank account, motorbike, computer and 2ch.net domain name) and making him pay 5000000 yen of compensation.
Though I need better translation of that article.

His domain is hosted by Tucows in the US, and his servers are hosted in a datacentre in California.

Quite how a Japanese court can claim to have jurisdiction over this I don't know.

This would be funny if it happened, they already know who he is and if all of 2channel goes down then what else would millions of NEETs have to do at that point? That guy sure would have fun in the coming days.

Hiroyuki's been sued a hundred times, and threatened with lawsuits thousands. I doubt 2chan is closing.

Something like this happens to Hiroyuki every once in a while. Some of the other popular lawsuits involved people making threats to do something, like kill people on a subway train or whatnot. Most of these are false, but I think there were at least two cases where they turned out to be true. Hiroyuki has dodged most of these so far, even the lawsuits that he lost, but about the only thing that has really come from them so far is that one lawsuit forced him to start logging IP addresses, so if a similar threat was made, then the authorities could look into it.

There's a pretty good Wikipedia article on the guy, and it outlines this stuff better than I can. He has over 100 mods who run the site for him, and he's only met about 10 in real life. He says he just does the dirty work for the site, which is mostly court appearances with occasional interviews about the site's culture and growing popularity.

To add to my previous statement. I've been doing more research on Hiroyuki and ni channeru's court cases, and I've found some more specifics. First off, Hiroyuki is a self-proclaimed hikikomori. He tends to not come to court appearances, which might be because he's a hikikomori. There's also not much that anyone can do even when they win a case against him and his site, because all he has to do usually is refuse to pay damages. They don't have his phone number in most cases, and he won't respond to their e-mails. They don't have a personal address past the fact that he lives somewhere in Tokyo.

The news media in Japan seem to look at 2ch.net as a form of news on the web. There have been a number of times where anonymous users have disclosed information only to have it come up in the mass media the next day or so.

The external links at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiroyuki_Nishimura are a good way to start getting information on Hiroyuki and 2ch.net. Some of the information I've been finding is at the Japan Times Online, and requires registering in order to get access to the news articles, but there's an English version for all of them, I think. All of the English articles I've read from the site are really well translated thus far.

If I'm understanding the article that the OP posted correctly, then this might be the first time that someone managed to win a lawsuit against Hiroyuki and find out some personal information, like his car registration and residence. This might prove to be a bit of a problem, but Hiroyuki could simply sell all he currently owns and place what he owns in money in banks outside the country, most likely the USA, since he already has some relations with businesses here.
