    It was a day like any other.  Dubs, traps, and babyfur filled the board.  For the past few months /v/ had been raging about Reddit for some fucking reason, and had convinced themselves that Reddit was responsible for everything wrong with /v/.  Lately this paranoia and hatred had been rising, due to suspicions that Reddit had voted in the /v/idya game awards.  There had been several websites reporting on the /v/gas for some fucking reason, causing /v/ much butthurt.  Overall it was a pretty normal day.  No one could have predicted what was to come.


Dawn of the Second Day
    The day of the much hyped /v/gas had arrived, and nobody gave a shit.  There were no threads made in anticipation, and it seemed like nobody on /v/ was even aware of them.  That is until a sticky was made, advertising the /v/gas.  It's post count numbered in the thousands.  When the fated moment arrived, there were over 13,000 people watching the /v/gas.  The chat and the threads were filled with memespamming the likes of which had not been seen since the Days of Zelda Williams.  And so it was that the /v/gas revealed, in front of 13,000 people, the dark, twisted, perverse truth about /v/, a truth hidden under so many layers of self-denial that its revelation would cause butt devastation so raw and unfiltered that, for a while, even the traps and the dragon dildos went ignored.  The secret:



/v/ has terrible taste in video games.



Dawn of the Third Day
    Chaos.  Grand Strategy Generals were singled out and spammed, for some reason, early in the morning.  The song of the conqueror Sanic filled /v/ and many trolls spammed :stopmusic: throughout the board.  A thread with :stopmusic: as the OP was stickied and was filled with thousands upon thousands of posts repeating that phrase.  /b/ (apparently) went through something similar as well, which resulted in the board being frozen, and all of them flocking to /v/.  The shit storm was so great that it broke the very fabric of /v/ itself, and the number of pages went from 15 to the hundreds.  No thread could be deleted.  The stubborn /v/irgins took shelter in a couple of vidya related threads, to wait out the storm.  Eventually the mods made another sticky saying /v/ is like Reddit or something, I'm not really sure what it's supposed to be.  This is the current state of /v/.

I'm still confused as to why they are acting so insane though,their taste or lack of it in videogames has never affected them before.At least in never appeared to have any effect other than some arguments.
It seems to me more like there has  been a sudden influx of those not from this board,and as of yesterday,a large portion appears to be from /b/,judging by the threads they made,which by comparison to the threads that /b/ usually makes,matched the pattern.
There also appear to have been some reddit users,although i do lack any information as to the amount

So what do you guys think about the new board?  Do you think it will help in the long run, or if it was just a bad idea?

I personally like it so far, it seems that both /v/ and /vg/ are better than /v/ was before the split.  People on both boards are not tolerating trolling, though I don't know how long this will last.  It seems the two boards have a pretty bad rivalry going though, every time someone tries to troll one board they just link them to the other. A decent amount of posts on both boards seem to suggest that they look down on the other, but I'm pretty sure that these people are in the minority.  I think most people are browsing both boards.  I hope this rivalry doesn't get out of hand though.

But people are going to always take the path of least resistance. At least this way we have actual videogame discussion on /v/. As somebody who doesn't use the catalogue because I don't like looking for specific things to talk about and want discussion thrust upon me, I have noticed the change quite a lot.

Me too.  I guess most people are just more interested in posting funny images than actually discussing video games.  I've tried to get people to come here more often, but it seems like this will always just be the place people shit up whenever /v/ is down.

The stupid thing is, they aren't even very well-made "funny images". I think the shitfest that was 2008 /v/ had the last bastion of quality OC. 

After that, people became content to just slap the same unfunny image macros on every picture they see. At -most- you have poorly-done edits where they put some noteworthy face from or associated with their game on multiple images(League of Legends and Tribes:Ascend, for example).

So this is it, huh. This is what the end looks like. Funny. I didn't expect it so soon. I guess no one did, though.
