Epic Mickey: Grimdark Game?

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:00

I come from /v/ or whats left of it.
ANYWAY, There has been a mayor upheaval on the internets because of this leaked project called Epic Mickey. A supposed dark and twisted version of Disneyworld's characters and universe where the older cartoons and rides, leaded by Oswald the rabbit (Walt Disney's First character ever), emerge from the dark void of forgotten cartoons and corrupt everything and everyone with black ink and paint thinner, resulting in a really explicit, macabre shadow of its former self. Wii exclusive confirmed/negated/corrobored over various vidya news sites, and still just concept art and little information leaked so far. What do you guys think? im actually thinking it will be a good game.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:05

I'm wondering what the extent of the paintbrush's use will be, I mean GI said that it will be used to manipulate the environment (build bridges, paint thinner to remove obstacles, etc) but will I be able to draw other things? For example could I summn other friendly Disney characters by drawing them or something?

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:05

we're going to have to wait for more information

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:07

Well of course we will, I was just opening up the forum for more speculation. That's how discussions work pal, must be a bit desensitized from all the /v/ bullshit eh?

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:07

The phantom blot is also a mayor villain on the game, im curious about other villains from disney, like hades, or jafar, scar, would they appear too? im looking forward to it

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:08

Sure is only 2 people in here lol.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:08

I'm praying that the game doesn't rip off Okami style paintbrush manipulation, as much as I did enjoy the game.

Actually, oddly enough, one of the things I'm MOST excited for is the music.  I bet/hope and pray they do a fucking amazing job with it.

I haven't seen any of the articals yet but I am wondering if there will be a hub system. I think by scanning one of the previous threads the old Disney Castle would be the hub. As for using paint brushes do you think they will be acquired skills that you get while you progress through the game or you will be able to perform all the tasks from the get-go? I personally think they will be acquired to ease people into creating various objects to help them through out their quest.

other villains from disney, like hades, or jafar, scar, would they appear too?

I doubt it, I think the newest movie characters they are likely to use would be like Cinderella and Snow White. Mostly they are trying to use the oldest characters possible, as well as some staple characters like Mickey/Donald/Goofy

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:12

This is starting to sound like Scribblenauts...
God I hope not.

Name: Epic Mickey Thread 2009-10-08 23:14

And that was the 4 billionth time I died...

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:14

That would make sense, but also at the current time Mickey himself is fading away from the mainstream in my opinion. Sure he is a recognizable character but he isn't out there anymore in T.V. or movies, mostly confined to the Disney theme parks. I think it is a fitting subject that the forgotten characters are trying to take down Mickey while currently Mickey really is starting to become forgotten himself.

Name: Weston 2009-10-08 23:17

I think Oswald the rabbit and the Phantom Blot will form together to make some sort of Giygas type abomination. Yes I know I said this in the other thread, but I'm not sure you would remember after us getting saged strait to Hell.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:17

Mickey has a bunch of young kids shows on the disney channel

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:18

This game is unlikely to use "newer" villians and characters for one reason;

Kingdom Hearts is already using them.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:19

Its like they waited 'till Mickey was "weak" enough for them to be able to strike and corrupt the whole place up

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:19

Had no clue, never watched the Disney channel.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:20

I don't think they will use villains or characters that Mickey has never encountered

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:20

I'd be intersted to see how the phantom blot became a mutated creature of ink, wasn't he originally just a cloaked thief that was never unmasked?

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:21

enjoy your peace and quite bros

love, sagefag.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:21

Oswald probably tampered with him and probably has him on a leash

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:22

>I don't think they will use villains or characters that Mickey has never encountered.

how about oswald himself?

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:22

Well yeah, but I think that has to do with Oswald's influence

Alright before this gets out of hand guys, you can link to the post you are talking about by clicking its number. Just like all the imageboards.

Oswald was on of the very first Disney characters, pushed into the shadow when Mickey came onto the scene. Don't you think he would be a little bitter after all these years?
That's what the game is about, all the old bitter characters getting revenge on the "replacements" after years in the void where forgotten characters dwell.

What do you have against scribblenauts?

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:28

>>26
Oh now I understand the whole ink theme, this isn't about the characters as they were in the cartoons, but as they would be if they were real people with feelings and such. Kind of like the Warner Bros. characters in Space Jam, they were all just actors in the cartoons.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:29

I wonder if it will be much more platforming orientated or combat orientated. An example for me would be Jak 1 going to Jak 2, JAk 2 still had some platforming elements but it reduced the amount of platforming considerably. Could be more than painting bridges, what about pillars to hop to and fro from, ect. so it is platform heavy.

It was rather dissappointing, watch the Zero Punctuation review, it pretty much sums up my feelings for it.

i imagine old donalds/goofies/etc getting revenge on their newest versions as well, maybe even old Mickey versions as well

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:30

Mickey was Oswald replacement they are related and he should have a gripe with Mickey for taking his place and he is an original Disney character

but I can't imagine your going to see any villain from a Disney movie because most of them aren't original Disney characters just animated adaptations of fairy tales, myths and stories

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:33

>>31
Oh crap, Mickey is getting a make over as well, what if the one we have currently tries to regain his title as the current Mickey over the newly designed one?

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:35

>>25
oh, cool, thanks man, wasn't sure how the textboard worked yet.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:40

>>34
No problems Broseph, glad to help.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:41

Just saying... a mirror-mickey fight would be pretty cool.

Name: Weston 2009-10-08 23:43

A doppelganger fight would be pretty boss. They can do anything you can.

I don't know if there's spoilers in this board so I'll just say this.

Quick time events.

Waggletime Events... AUGH

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:47

>>38
also I wasn't saging there, just seeing if noko worked here too.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:50

Seems as though there really isn't that much to discuss, once you get away from arguments about viral marketing that is.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:51

Thos board kinda sucks...

Name: Weston 2009-10-08 23:52

What other obscure characters do you think might be in it?

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:55

>>43
all those goofy animal characters from the black&white disney days would be givens for normal enemies, as I sees it.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-08 23:57

>>44
those cows and goats? sure, im also betting the characters from myth/story based movies appear, because well, there's that picture of Mostro carrying a factory around...

I
WANT
A
FANTASIA
LEVEL
NOW

Name: Weston 2009-10-09 0:04

>>46
Yes with the wizard as the stage boss.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-09 0:05

>>47
Sorry I meant to say something about multiple levels. The wizard's castle being one of them.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-09 0:08

I'm hoping that they don't give Mickey a voice.
Hell, I hope they don't give anyone a voice. The toony Disney voices would just ruin the atmosphere.
Also they need Chernabog, regardless that he was in Kingdom Hearts.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-09 0:15

>>49
I would LOVE a silent Mickey, though I think Oswald needs a voice.

However, if Disney and Spector could pull of a -good- silent protagonist AND silent antagonist relationship through only visual storytelling I think I would cum gallons.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-09 0:20

>>50
I'd accept Oswald's voice, because they could make it amazing seeing as how he's never been voiced before iirc so they can do whatever they want with it.
That, and I want Phantom Blot voiced.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-09 0:38

>>51
A deep voice would be hilarious.

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-09 3:48

Name: Anonymous 2009-10-09 6:47

i think oswald should remain silent, after all, he's from the era of silent cartoons. phantom blot should have some deep disturbing voice, has if he's talking while drowning on ink at the same time
