You serious i'm talking about Final Fantasy as a series. The old one's say.....I-VII were extremly creative look at some of the other games at those times. The graphics were hands down much better. And the story is really opinionated. But personaly i enjoy it. Final Fantasy X had stunning Cut scenes. Look it up last cut scene for X or X-2 is amazing.

True true very true i got FFXII for the PS2 and Oblivian for the 360 they are amazing games i gotta say i enjoyed Oblivians combat system alot. And the creating charater was sweeeeeet. I have the one for the x-box too. But i beat Oblivian and i enjoy the story in FFXII alot. But overall i gotta go in turms of pick up and play Oblivian but if u wanna inverst some serious time than FFXII.
Game is broken in that there are many bugs that either break the game in making it too easy, or breaks the game as in it crashes and corrupts the saves.
Piss-poor translation.
Incoherant storyline/storyline that--at its base level--had been done multiple times before in anime.
Uninspired character designs.
Idiotic characters.
16-bit sound effects lifted straight from Final Fantasy VI.
Backstory that makes little sense (and I'm the guy on 4chan that condensed the backstory into something that "made sense")
Plot holes. Oh GOD the plot holes.

The majority is not always right, and I'll give an example why.

Something people disagree upon is usually something they consider to be "bad" or "wrong".
When a majority agrees upon something, does that automatically make it right? No.
Does that make it wrong? No.

Personally, I like the older Final Fantasy games from the SNES era very much (I consider FF6 to be my favorite game in the genre), and I like what the newer games offer in terms of thematic continuity. But I think there are other modern JRPGs that stand as better examples of the genre when compared to these newer FF games.

It's usually a mistake to judge something by the people that enjoy it, but that's the way it is. :\
In my opinion, the games certainly aren't perfect, and are full of a variety of mildly distracting flaws; but they're overall quite fun and enjoyable, if not a wee bit overrated and overhyped.

You're mistaking popular with massive amounts of overhype.
Here's a scenario for you. When someone starts overhyping something more then necessary, that can put someones expectations way too high. The higher you go the further can be let down.
If someone over exposes something too much, that ruins the potential for a game. It's like, having to listen to a song over and over and over and over and over and over. And the dumbasses overhyping it (the gamefaqser, the games are fun'er, the rpgfaner, the pennyarcader and teh gamer) are too stupid to realize the consquences for their own actions.
Why else do you think they like to stick the ugly mug of main characters from jrpgs onto their faggy forum avatar, the moment a new jrpg has been announced in japan and won't be released outside of japan for 2 years? They're faggets
