Random thoughts about MGS3:
1. The camera is beautiful, and a joy to behold. Sure, in overhead view Snake's visibility is about 20 feet, 30 if you tilt the camera, but aside from that little problem- which is just a result of the general viewpoint of the entire game series- the camera fits the game perfectly.
2. Is it just me, or does it feel like the game was originally set in Vietnam? I mean, the setting of the game is currently the jungles of Soviet Russia *snrk*. Also, the song during the ending credits- 'Way To Fall'- had more of a Vietnamish, sort of 'The Doors' feeling to it. The game is set in 1964, the year the US got involved in the Vietnam war. Finally, the weapons in the game are, with the exceptions of the AK-47 and the hand grenades, almost exclusively of American make.
3. On that note, while the VR missions for this game would be totally awesome(VR camoflage and facepaint!) I'd kind of like the 'VR Missions' for this one to be another, less important mission of Big Boss's, so we can see what Foxhound doing a perfectly ordinary mission where the pointman has support and doesn't get betrayed by said support or something- possibly set during the late Vietnam War, maybe even with American soldiers running around? It'd be interesting. Buut that's less an expansion set and more a whole game.
lol, Revolver Ocelot was working for the CIA the whole time, The Philosiphers of America became the Patriots with the Philosiphers Legacy (a massive sum of money stockpiled during WWII) and EVA was working for the Chinese the whole time. and and and..... im out of plot spoilers for now.

Great game!
Also remember it wasn't Russia then it was the SOVIET UNION, which stretched way outside of Russia itself, so it wasn't the "jungles of Russia".

3: Why don't you say something interesting, like some good solid reasons it sucks, instead of pissing on someone else's thread?

Age for great commentary. Yeah, the "jungles of Russia" one is incorrect, but the other points make me think. Also...don't think there's really very much in the way of spoilers here. I've yet the play the game, though.

anyone else try to kill Ocelot on their second play through, other than me?

er, dammit, sorry. got a little too quick with the add reply button.
right, in Sokolov's lab, after the cinematic where John pwns Ocelot and his spetsnaz crew, Ocelot's out cold in front of you. I killed him just out of curiosity and kinda got a monkey-wrench type ending. anyone else do that?

If you kill Ocelot, then you pretty much kill the rest of the Metal Gear timeline. That's why you get a Game Over.

Forgot to add that Ocelot was the one who retrieved Granin's prototypical Metal Gear designs.

yeah, I gathered as much before I did it. but afterwards, it kinda weirded me out to hear Roy Campbell admonishing me for doing that. something along the lines of "Snake! What are you doing?! You can't go chaning history like that!" is what he said. ...so, is it really just Dave somehow reliving John's past? over analyzation? lack of sleep?

Chasing monkeys all day can wear you down after a while. :)

I wonder what these people would say now, looking back, after all that's happened.
I wonder would they think, Hey, Did I do this for me, or you?
