regedit.exe

Alright, so I was trying to get a keycode for D2 the other night.
In doing so, I downloaded a cracker that gave me nasty malware and/or a virus.
I got rid of most of the problems, but I keep getting this program in my task manager as regedit.exe
I looked around and found out it was a trojan known as brid.a.
I downloaded Symantec's removal tool, but it crashed (oddly) before completing.
Is there any way I can remove it manually or anyone know another removal tool?

srsly, reformat to be safe unless it would be a pain to backup everything you want to keep

My main internet connected/pirated software computer has nothing important on it. reformat and reinstall in about 3 hours if something goes wrong

Heh, I've got about 80G of stuff on the computer. Only 60 of it is what I have to keep, but yeah.. I've got a 2G Flash-Drive. 30 trips back and forth to my laptop really worth it? xD

I'm betting if I got Norton it could fix it up in a second, but I don't have 50 some dollars to spend right now. Which is why I was looking for a fast and free fix. It's a common virus from.. 2001 haha.

They have a specific removal tool for it. They have a download and instructions....

I dont know if this is the one from the OP, but worth a try again.
Taken from the page...

"Whether you remove this threat manually or by using the removal tool, on Windows 98/Me computers, it is likely that the worm has overwritten the Windows file Msconfig.exe. Although this file is not necessary for Windows to function, it is a useful tool, and should be replaced from a clean backup or reinstalled."

So I was right before I even researched it, damn I'm good.

Thanks, but I already tried it and it keeps crashing before it completes. Heh.

Don't change these.
