It will be the best windows ever. It has very shiny buttons to press. I also heard you will get faster internet. Your friends will laugh at you for not getting Vista.

it took xp 3-4 years to get any good, vista is the equivelant of beta software at the moment imo, just like xp was when it was first released

Vista is just some kind of hybrid mix between XP and Vienna anyway. Who would pay for a half finished product ?

Just wait about 3-6 months for Vista until most softwares and drivers get their shit put together. Alot of the softwares and drivers are fixed half-assed for Vista so give it some time.

iVista neeeds like 500 MB RAM to do iNothing. Every iApplication you run adds up those 500 MB. Yes, I have lots of RAM, but that's just sick. Also framerate in iGames is far worse than with XP.
>>24
Computers with only 512 MB of RAM and Vista Home BASIC run like shit. eMachines naturally sells a Vista machine with a celeron and 512 MB of RAM and it runs (or rather doesn't) like it's six years old OUT OF THE BOX.
You need at least a gig or RAM for anything other than Home Basic as a minimum and a DirectX 9 card for Aero. Nothing runs quite right even if they are "For Vista". Everyone still only has beta drivers out for their shit. I've managed to completely kill RC2 twice by doing simple tasks (deleting files on my flash drive, running task manager/device manager, ect.) and lock it up many, many times. Granted, that was the second beta, but really, it's not that much different. MS hasn't fixed much between the two.
Don't get Vista for at least six months if you want any of your shit to work. Even then, seriously, just get a Mac, Vista blows. I wish I was joking, but really, iMacs aren't so bad with boot camp.

iMacs aren't so bad with boot camp
That's Windows running the programs not the Mac OS. As for drivers, well, isn't that the manufacturer's job (or at least that's what the Linuxfags always say)?

Don't be a moron, why get Vista? Because of the ooooooooh kewwwl interface? Faggot. There's no single reason why you would want to get that piece of a shit attempt for an OS turned to a massive whale turd.
Just dual boot Kubuntu and Windows 2000. Get used to Kubuntu so you can make the transition, and leave Windows 2000 for existing games. DX10 PC games will suck, so you'll want to get an Xbox 360 or a PS3 or a Wii for that, so do it, and use your computer for everything else, for which you have Kubuntu and over 20000 absolutely free packages ready for you, and then commercial software.
I like Vista.
No, really. I'm having no problems with it (except for one mysterious "Unknown Device" in Device Manager) and I play tons of games and soforth, so I promise you, I'm not some word-processor-only n00b.
Of course, my machine is uber, so perhaps I'm just biased because my machine doesn't suck balls, and it runs Vista fine.

Faggot, enjoy your DRM, and enjoy wasting your "uber machine" which Vista turns to an average machine in terms of performance.
Also, fuck off and GTFO, we don't want AIDS here.

"No, really. I'm having no problems with it (except for one mysterious "Unknown Device" in Device Manager)"
Wow, what an incredible OS, the only one on the market to add virtual shit when it doesn't have real one.
But microsoft is right to do this, as long as there are morons like you to pay for it. Enjoy your AIDS.
Vista sucks sure there's the new aero interface but it just got a lot slower, it has a lot of DRM, and it's from MICROSOFT, which means that it is an INSECURE and OVERPRICED piece of shit.

I'm 36, and I gotta say, there're a lotta narrow-minded people in this thread. Oh well, not my concern. At any rate, I didn't pay for Vista. Also, it's working fine. I fail to see how Vista has turned my machine "average in terms of performance." I'm still super-flying all over the damned place.
Also, to >>38, XP does it too. Enjoy your commie Linux.
P.S. I will enjoy my AIDS, as the AIDS are quite enjoyable and worth-while to me. But I'm not willing to PAY for Vista, so y'know, they're not getting a new customer this way.

I tried Vista and now I'm switching back to XP. A lot of my hardware isn't compatible with Vista: webcam, graphics tablet(off and on), etc. Plus, Vista kept turning off my firewall.

The interface looks interesting, but I have to say, I'm still not fully convinced by that glass effect. Vista seems like a step up on some areas, kinda, and a step down on others. I don't use it though, so obviously I couldn't tell you why to get it. DX10?

Since Opera is skinnable, you don't have to use Vista to have the Vista look, and you don't have to use the Vista look even if you run Vista!
