"Add Hardware" problem

Name: Maze!asshole 2006-12-22 0:59

I just recently reformatted my computer back to factory settings using the disc the computer came it with (A eMachine with WinXP HomeEd pre-installed SP2). But now trying to install anything I use to use (Such as an Eyetoy or a Logitech Optical mouse or eMachine approved speakers) on the computer results in the Add Hardware Wizard telling me the data is invalid (then a toltip message telling me "there was a problem installing your driver and it may not work properly" when I have installed it before I formatted the computer using the disc. Now with formatting was a problem that occurred that screwed up Add Hardware Wizard, and is there a way to fix it?

... You misread what I wrote completely. I downloaded previously usable drivers to use with Add Hardware Wizard but it won't install it because AHW determines it as faulty data. Even if I know the data is correct.

Using the add hardware wizard is your first mistake.  Get new drivers for your model off your manufacturer's website and install those according to their instructions.

oh ok, I thought you meant you were just trying to automatically install them using the Add Hardware Wizard.

go to the device manager, go to the properties of the stuff that isn't working, go to the driver tab, and set them to the correct drivers
