Core temp: Is this normal?

Name: Anonymous 2006-12-19 10:39

Im running intel core 2 x6800
According to Core Temp, the machine idels around 44 C. I assume that is fine but when I go to play a game, it soars up to 74ish C. I believe the tempJunction for this chip is 85 C but I'm not very knowledgable in these sorts of things.

Am I fine or do I have heating problems? I tried googling this but all I end up with are over clockers talking about stuff I don't really understand :(

who the fuck knows anymore

My MacBook gets up to 90 degrees and shit and it still works. I figure if you're not tripping Intel's max recommended temp (I believe it's 100C for the Core line) you're still cool.

I remember how much fun lawn darts were. My cousin hit me in the head with one. Don't remember what happened after that. Have a lot of trouble remembering things since. But I remember the lawn darts were fun.

Wow guys. Just wow. My wife's Pentium D hits 55 C under load, with a 500MHz overclock. I think you failed heatsink installing.

Your logic is retarded. Zalman fans are better.

my Athlon 3800 64, reaches 28degrees idle

using zalman too, huge heattsink

AMD Duron 1.3Ghz here 44-49 idle depending on ambient temperature, climbs up to 3 or 4 degrees under load.

That's quite normal for single cores. My 4000+ is usually at 30°C.

My Athlon 64 3500+ with a Golden Orb (large, Zalman-like though not as perfect, still very damn good) heatsink and fan is right now at 21 ºC. I've been browsing the intarweb.

Failed logic. She didn't want to spend a lot, and Pentium D was a good budget dual core at the time.

Text board. Also, no.

Yeah, my 3500+ idles around 32 C, I've got it at like 1.45v though. I think it might be a dud though because I can't get it over 2.4GHz no matter what I do.

My Geforce 6200 idles around 44 C these days with cold weather. Back in September it was around 55 C, and in July (when there was a heatwave) it idled around 60 C. It gets up to around 85 C when I play games.

My core temp is over 9000

WHAT? NINE THOUSAND!?

I'm fucking leet.  My core temp on both my cpu, gpu, chassis, and hd are all 255.  No crashes in five years.  I fucking rule.

My DRAGONFORCE 98000 idles around 115 C these days with cold weather. Back in September it was around 125 C, and in July (when there was a heatwave) it idled around 140 C. It gets up to around 205 C when I rock hardcore.

thats normal i think, the only thing i dislike is the way graphics cards whurrrrr up the fan noise when playing games, i had a 6600 GT that averaged about 40-50 idle, like 60 on games, thats with the standard fans, if you have any kind of knowledge and what not check out the latest Zalman GPU coolers, and also check that your G-Card is compatable, they genually run better and are quieter then the standard fans

Don't change these.
