Burning DVDs for the first time, need help

Name: Anonymous 2006-11-15 15:23

Right, I'm not going to pretend I know anything about this.

I'm trying to burn some mpegs onto a set of maxell DVD+Rs. last program I tried, cdburnerXP pro 3, didn't recognize the discs.

So I'm going to start over. What program should I get (preferably free, but even a short trial will do.) that can burn a few short mpeg clips onto my stupid discs?

nero if all you want to do is store the files as data

as far as converting them to a dvd you can watch on your computer, try dvd lab pro.

you want them to watch on pc or stand alone dvd player?

videohelp.com search for you dvdplayer and see if the dvd player supports dvd+R discs and if it can accept Maxell brand.

Apex AD1110W good dvd players for only mpeg

Philips DVP642 DivX-Certified (plays most divx, has prob, with divx encoded under "Qpel") Play mpegs ok. only prob. (maybe its my player only) it cant seem to Rewind. When I do it skips to last few secs of the clip and ends. I can Fastforward with no issues.

I burn clips as Dvd-iso (Mode-1)

If you're planning to burn them to DVD video (for viewing on standalone players or whatever), I would recommend TMPGEnc, and use that to artificially put a 5% or so border around the video. The reason is that most hardsubbed fansubs rarely take TV overscan and safe titling areas into account, so will usually get cut off at the edge of the screen without correcting for this.

OP here again.
DVD lab suited my purpouses perfectly, thank you very much Anon.
but my discs are still being uncooperative.

No, I am not No. 6, but I did want my videos to play in a DVD player.

seems my computer doesn't even know my discs are in there, stupid maxells.

any suggestions as to proper writable DVDs?
