Burning DVDs for the first time, need help

Right, I'm not going to pretend I know anything about this.

I'm trying to burn some mpegs onto a set of maxell DVD+Rs. last program I tried, cdburnerXP pro 3, didn't recognize the discs.

So I'm going to start over. What program should I get (preferably free, but even a short trial will do.) that can burn a few short mpeg clips onto my stupid discs?

you want them to watch on pc or stand alone dvd player?

videohelp.com search for you dvdplayer and see if the dvd player supports dvd+R discs and if it can accept Maxell brand.

Apex AD1110W good dvd players for only mpeg

Philips DVP642 DivX-Certified (plays most divx, has prob, with divx encoded under "Qpel") Play mpegs ok. only prob. (maybe its my player only) it cant seem to Rewind. When I do it skips to last few secs of the clip and ends. I can Fastforward with no issues.

I burn clips as Dvd-iso (Mode-1)
