I would love to upgrade from 32 to 64-bit Windows (and eventually Vista), but there is a compatibility snag: I need whole disk encryption (not encrypted virtual disks). A disclaimer is necessary before I ask my question, though.
For the love of fuck, please don't start in how I would have to be a terrorist, warez kingpin, or a criminal in general to want a secure hard drive. I also don't want the cons of whole-disk encryption, like potential data loss and performance decrease. I am aware of the full range of consequences and HEAVENS FUCKING PRESERVE YOU IF YOU DRAW ME INTO AN ETHICAL ARGUMENT.
...so, yeah, does anyone know of any whole-disk encryption software with 64-bit Windows support? I am willing to go commercial and shell out anything under $100.

[GENERAL STATEMENT ABOUT THE DECLINE OF 4CHAN AND THE RISE/PREVALENCE OF TROLLS AND USELESS 13-YEAR OLDS WITH NO LIFE]
Linux does a lot of things better, I gather. At present, I don't have the free time to learn to use an unfamiliar operating system.
I dislike the idea of someone stealing my computer and, in addition to having a nice, new computer, having access to my CG art, writing, and, most importantly, a fuck-ton of code. That is in addition to the usual concerns about identity theft and related fraud.
I mean, when it really comes down to it, I encrypt my hard drive for the same reason I lock my doors. Although, granted, this "lock" is a good deal stronger. =)

what's wrong with the built-in file/folder based encryption?

If you mean EFS, I would have to apply EFS to practically every folder for it to work correctly. Things are cached all over the place, yanno'? If I forget a single folder, it's all for naught. Plus there are certificates, etc involved. I just prefer passwords and a system-wide application for simplicity's sake.
Anyway, if no one has any idea, it's no big deal. I'll keep using PGP Desktop until they finally get their shit together.

encrypt the cache folders, jeez.
or better yet, find out where the cache folders are and shove them to a ramdisk.

buy a new computer and stop collecting CP. problem solved.
What you are asking for is wrong. It is the kind of question that tells a guy like me that you are doing it wrong. Nobody cares if their Windows folder is encrypted. If you have sensitive data you encrypt the sensitive data and that's the end of it.
PS nobody cares about your code, least of all someone who would steal your computer. Additionally, if you don't know linux, you can't code worth jack fuck shit and that's the god honest truth.

Apple Menu > System Preferences > Security > click "Turn On FileVault"
This will encrypt your home folder. Combine with safari's "private browsing" feature to enjoy your CP.
