i just installed McAfee antivirus/firewall on my pc, and everything was running fine until recently that it started giving me warnings about firefox everytime i opened it. already clicked on fully allow and added it to the trusted programs to access the internet list on mcafee. and it still gives me a warning whenever i open it. anyone knows what could be causing it?

MCAFEE NO LIEK T3H INTERNETS.
*shrugs*
Maybe McAfee is looking to shun Open Source, especially with alternatives to it like ClamWin just waiting to gain popularity. Not that ClamWin is good... at least not yet.

why are you using this gay McAfee firewall shit
you could have bought a router for the same price. That is, if you paid for the software. And if you didn't, fail for using an antivirus/firewall whose definitions will be sorely outdated in 20 minutes.

Personally, I'm using Avast and Kerio; no idea wether or not they're "the best" or not (I'm using them because they're free).
I'd like to hear suggestions and opinions on this too.

NOD32 is the best antivirus. Firewall depends on personal preference, if you want something extremely customizable, or if you want something you just run and don't have to worry about.

NOD32 sucks sure there's an ebuild for NOD32 but it just get dropped to /opt, it's statically linked, and it's CLOSED SOURCE, whitch means that it is a BINARY package

i thought zone alarm was the best, you just had to put up with the first day to check all the "do not warn me again this message" and youd be golden

Zone Alarm screwed up my comp. I made the mistake of upgrading and found out that it was unstable. When I tried to downgrade, the program wouldn't let me. Of course when I rebooted, stuff started going psycho. Oh, system restore, you gosh darned saved me again.

lol how do you set a system restore point? ive checked but it led me to belive it does it automatically
Don't forget. Firefox + Norton = Bad. The crptastic Client Security crap that came with my T60 blocked my entire internet access. :\ EZ, uninstall, install NOD32, patch, 16000000000 day evaluation GET!

Fag, stop using that broken piece of shit. It renders pages like crap and is crippling development of Internet standards because Microsoft doesn't want to fix its fundamentally broken rendering engine.

Updates? Pure lies. Firefox updates 24 hours after any security flaw has been discovered. MSIE may take up to a whole month, and non-security-related bugs rarely get fixed.
Malware? Never got any. Unless you consider a file download, then run is Firefox malware. On the other hand, MSIE is malware in an on itself.
A router might be in order. I've browsed porn sites with firefox (Those thumbnail sites that sometimes link to other thumbnail sites randomly), and I haven't gotten any spyware or have been infected with viruses with this computer. Not a single case of mal-ware. This is what I did:
1. Never touch IE outside of checking for Windows Updates.
2. Keep Windows up-to-date with the latest patches and security fixes from Windows Update.
3. Use a router (Which acts as a hardware firewall), and only open the ports I will use.
4. Keep my spyware scanner up to date, and my Anti-Virus checker up to date as well
5. Delete all unwanted mail immediately.
I've done this with this A64 comp, and I haven't gotten malware of any kind. None.
I know of two friends that don't have routers, or any other kind of firewall for that matter and their Windows XP installation has gotten infected and hijacked beyond belief. One of them I know for a fact didn't update Windows XP (He was still running service pack 1 O_O). The other I'm not so sure, but it's possible he skipped some critical updates.
