Tech help salary?

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-11 10:07

I had my first tech help job yesterday. I cleaned 70 viruses off someone's computer and fixed the startups with HijackThis.

He gave me 50 bucks. I think I worked for around 5 hours, mostly not straight work or even any work at all.

Anyway, how much does the average clean pay, corporate or service or whatever?

I get $10/hr for part time work as an IT Assistant. Sure, it's not a lot but it's a steady job. Somedays we just sit around on our asses surfing the net or buying crap to play with.

tech help is the bottom of the IT barrel.

The day I can do in Unix what I can do in Windows I'll be the happiest man on Earth and switch over immediatelly.

That day will never come because knowledge doesn't magically arrive in your brain. You have to be willing to learn.

he means apps and compatibility.

By the time apps and compatibility come, Unix will be noob friendly.

That's the only thing that is EVER said when asking what you can't do on linux. And it still doesn't get more correct.

GET CEDEGA AND STFU

Games can barely run natively. This Cedega propaganda is getting old.

Linux isn't easy to use. It has nothing to do with learning to use it. You can learn how to drive with a keyboard which would provide more precision and option, but it wouldn't make driving easier.

Unix can be as superior as it wants. When it wants someone to use its superiority, it should become easy.

People don't major in computer science to check their email.

I'm a former subscriber; and cedega is crap. Yes, you can kinda run old games...some of the time. Very poorly and very inconsistently.

Also their point to play or WTF ever program that is used to configure games for cedega is flaky as fuck.

Screw them.

Yes, Cedega sucks ass.  Real men use Wine.

Real men don't buy games from companies that don't support Linux. Native port or GTFO.
