Joystick deadzone?

Name: Blk Mage 2006-05-30 19:31

Ok, just got a new Game Elements GGE910 wireless USB gamepad (looks like a PS2 controller) and I'm already having problems. The sticks are too twitchy. I can fix this in a couple of games by turning up the deadzone, but not all games (see Final Fantasy XI) have a deadzone setting for that game. Windows isn't letting me set a universal deadzone either. Anyone know of a program that I can use to create a deadzone or another way to fix this?

I'd like something like this too if anyone knows of anything. I'm actually using a PS2 to USB converter and the PS2 analogue sticks are touchy just as this person mentioned. Nothing in my driver panel that I can find to fix it either.

ps2 joysticks have a large deadzone in the center of the joystick, you probably won't get it to perform any better no matter what you do

step1. go to radio shack
step2. buy a ps2>usb converter
step3. use an ACTUAL ps2 controller.

win.

If I wanted wires, I'd still be using my Gamecube-USB converter. The whole point was to go wireless (and be able to map the Tab key to a joystick button, which I can't with the Gamecube one).
Isn't there ANYTHING I can do to fix this one?

Well the issue I have is especially noticable in racing games (NFSU2/NFSMW) where after taking a turn and letting go of the stick, it should drive straight but it usually continues to push in the direction I was last pushing it just a bit. I'm assuming it's due to the deadzone through the converter or in the driver being setup wierd. Both original PS1 and PS2 controllers do this yet they experience no such issue on the actual PS2 I use them with.

Mine is the Radio Shack PS2 to USB converter lol.
