s½chost.exe what the fuck

I have a program in the task manager labeled s½chost.exe, and I cannot find it anywhere and its really bugging me seeing its taking up a shitload of memory and doing nothing.

Do I have shitty viruses or is my windows just fucked?

explorer.exe is really two programs in one, it's the file manager (called with folder name as an argument when you open a folder), and also the gui shell (called without arguments by windows when you login).

a lot of windows programs expect it to exist as a file manager.
