s½chost.exe what the fuck

I have a program in the task manager labeled s½chost.exe, and I cannot find it anywhere and its really bugging me seeing its taking up a shitload of memory and doing nothing.

Do I have shitty viruses or is my windows just fucked?

Explorer.exe is just a small, optional part of Windows
Can I uninstall it? Can I still run Windows after that?
Unless I can do this, I wouldn't call it "optional"
