Build my computer KTHNKS ^o^

HAY GUYS
I'm in the market for a new computer. I already have a great audio card (xfi) and a decent video card. I mainly do the internets, audio tomfoolery (making crap music), a lot of music listening, play a few games, and use photoshop/imageready. However, it has been 2 years or so since I've really looked at any hardware.

My budget is $400-$500. I'm looking for a new mobo, CPU, HD, memory, and case (a GOOD one that isn't riced out with useless crap like clear viewing windows and lights). AMD cuz I am not a fan of Pentium. could you give me suggestions for a good setup that falls within my budget and maximizes performance? Individual comments about components that you find are rockrockin' would also be appreciated

Bonus question: I have my PS2 connected to my comp using a TV tuner card. The quality is okay but it could be better. I'm fixin' to get myself a PS3 when it comes out, and coudl use some advice on how to connect that to my monitor or PC in a way that is economical and retains quality. High-definition a must.

so basically you're a ricer fag who wants his computer to go VROOM VROOM. why don't you just keep what you've got? I'm sure it works fine. or maybe, just maybe, you could not be a lazy asshat and do it yourself?

I am planning to do build it myself. Did you read the post at all? I'm looking for suggestions for parts. My computer is a bit dated- 1.3 mhz.
Also, I am glad that you are an expert at how my computer runs. You are a master of the computers machines to be able to judge that my computer runs just "fine".

well I figure if you're able to post on a website, it must be running fine. and as of this moment, I'm posting from an old laptop with a 475Mhz processor, and it runs just fine.

Here you go:

Motherboard Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 about $70, or $40 refurbished.
This motherboard has both AGP and PCI-E slots as I'm assuming you have an AGP card. Forget big name overpriced crap, you only have 400 dollars.
Expect a lot of trouble from this board to get it running perfectly (in windows) the first time - I hope you know what do do with "google" and "OCWorkbench forums".

Processor Athlon 64 Venice $100~150 (or whatever you want for socket 939), and 2 512mb of RAM sticks (as a dual channel kit if neccesary) about 80 dollars. Totals at around 300 dollars. Just make sure you buy good ram for that 80 dollars - if neccesary add a little money if you can't get a bargain, and just overclock the piece of shit when performance seems lacking. That motherboard can take OCing and if you somehow fuck it up, well at least it was cheap.

At that point you can waste the rest of your money on other parts you need like... HDD and case. Feel free to find other motherboards if you want, you can get a more expensive or cheaper one. I wouldn't suggest one without PCI-E though.

Now gtfo to newegg and see what you want yourself.
