Slackware, FreeBSD, Debian, or Suse. Choose.

im trying to install it right now.i spoze this woulda been easier if there was already a OS on the disk, eh?

I'm amazed you've managed to fuck up an Ubuntu install. It's just as easy as installing Windows. The only thing I can think of that you might've really fucked up is your partitions, but I'm not sure it would even let you continue the install with partitions that wouldn't be bootable in the end. Having another OS on the disk doesn't change a thing, besides some more partitioning might have to be done.

Did you leave the install disk in throughout the entire thing, even after it says to reboot and it will finish? If I remember correctly, you actually need to take the disc out so that it doesn't attempt to boot from it.

>>5 i took out the disk and it reads disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter.

maybe i screwed up the partitioning. so far this is the only OS i cant install >_> i feel noobish for not bein able to do this when all day all i do is work on comps......bleh.

Again, I think you didn't install the bootloader (grub or lilo) correctly. You should be installing it to the Master Boot Record on your primary disk. If you get that installed, you'll at least get a boot screen rather than a system disk error.

Where does it give you an error?
And what kind of mac are you running?

Have you got the ppc version or the x86 version? You need the ppc version for it to boot on a mac.

Yes but which version of Ubuntu did you download? There are three versions available; x86, ppc and AMD64. You need ppc. The other two are for PCs.
