FUck me, that's the funniest shit I've read in a while. No wonder Microsoft is no.1.

Not even sure why you would consider XP Home as an option there. Pro = superior in all respects.

Advantages to XP:
- XP has ClearType, 2K doesn't. Cleartype > normal anti-aliasing, even on CRTs.
- XP is still supported by MS (updates, KB articles etc.), 2K not.
- XP has built-in WiFi support, 2K not.
If you want or need these, go with XP, otherwise 2K is less bloated if you have a slower/older comp.

If you're really worried about bloat on XP, download a program called nlite. Copy the contents of your XP cd to a folder on your computer, run nLite, choose that folder, choose which options you want to strip out, which tweaks you want to insert, etc etc etc, create ISO, burn, and you have a custom and bloatless windows XP.
Ok well I think I am going to go with 2k. Anyway what should I use to partition?

WRONG. 2k still gets updates. Sure, there's not going to be another service pack or anything, but critical updates are still being issued until 2010.

What about 2k3? It's got the tech of xp, but it's trimmed down as good as or even better than, win2k.

2k3 is fine unless you do any games or multimedia crap with it. I tried it a long time ago, and I remember having to dick around excessively to get the sound to work (could have been my hardware though, I'm not sure), wheras 98, 2k and XP pretty much worked out of the box with what I had.
Also, there's all kinds of fun to be had if you go to play games; missing dlls which games expect to find that arent' there and shit like that.
For a server, though, it's probably better than 2k or XP (or so I'd assume).

2k3 is fantastic. for a server os. it's absolutely useless as a personal computer OS tho. I suggest XP pro for that.
and also,
