Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP Pro?

Recently, my laptop had memory problems, so Windows became a little flaky after unexpectedly turning off many times, so now I'm formatting my laptop to put Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4 on it.  Previously, I had Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 on it.  The question is, should I keep Windows 2000 Professional, or should I put Windows XP Professional back on instead?

It's a Dell Inspiron 6000.  It has an Intel Celeron-M at 1.5GHz, 512MB DDR2 RAM, 40MB hard drive, an Intel i915GM graphics chipset, and a 1680x1050 screen.  It's also got a SD card reader, which I'm not sure if Windows 2000 has drivers for.  It can run Windows XP just fine.

2000 pro with service pack 4 is the most stable OS I've ever run and I'm pretty sure it has drivers for SD card readers. Personally I heavily biased against XP having used it for about 6 months then going back to 2000 pro. Look for a program online called Tune Up Utilities which is handy to optimise and streamline any version of windows.

Once you turn off the hideous theme to XP, I honestly can't tell the difference. I'd go with convience, personally.

Does 2000 have support for complex script and east asian languages? In XP, I just install some files from the cd by going to 'Regional and Language options' in the Control Panel.

Ofcourse it does. Well personally I'd use winXP rather than 2000, but if given an additional choise I'd choose Win2003.
A well treated winXP is better than 2000 tho in all aspects but account security.

Don't change these.
